Fifth anniversary of Metropolitan Anthony's repose
4th August 2008
August 4th marked the fifth anniversary of the repose of Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh. A panikhida for the departed hierarch was served in his Cathedral on the preceding day which was a Sunday, attended by a large congregation.
The day itself, August 4th, was marked by a memorial Liturgy which was attended by Vladyka's spiriual children of many years' standing, clergymen who had been ordained by him and other disciples and admirers of his work from all over Great Britain and Russia.
This was followed by a panikhida at the Metropolitan's grave in Old Brompton Cemetery served by Bishop Elisey of Sourozh. At the conclusion, everyone was invited to an informal reception and a common meal in the Cathedral, during which many people who had known Metropolitan Anthony personally shared their reminiscences.
