Extraordinary Meeting of Diocesan Assembly to be held on 10th January 2009

On 11th December 2008, on his arrival from Moscow after the funeral of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II and in accordance with the decision of the Holy Synod, Bishop Elisey of Sourozh called a meeting of the Diocesan Assembly to choose the delegates to participate in the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church on 27-29 January 2009.

The Council will elect the new Patriarch, who will be enthroned on 1 February.

The Assembly will be held at the London Cathedral of the Dormiton of the Mother of God and All Saints on 10 January 2009 at 2:00 p.m. and will begin with Panikhida (memorial service) for Patriarch Alexy II
