From Diocese of Sourozh
In his address to the Glasgow faithful, Valdyka emphasised the pressing need for a permanent pastoral care for the community.
On 6th July, the eve of the feast of the nativity of St John the Baptist, Bishop Elisey of Bogorodsk visited the Glasgow parish of the Diocese of Sourozh. His Grace was accompanied by Deacon Dimitri Nedostupenko a clergyman of the Cathedral parish in London.
This was Vladyka Elisey’s first visit to Scotland. In the course of the day, Vladyka met some of the active members of the Glasgow parish who, over tea, shared with the Bishop the ongoing concerns and difficulties of this, the largest of the Sourozh parishes outside of the capital.
The following day, Bishop Elisey celebrated the Divine Liturgy; in his address to the Glasgow faithful, Valdyka emphasised the pressing need for a permanent pastoral care for the community. He announced that a Cathedral priest would be sent to Glasgow to celebrate the divine services and other sacraments on the first Friday and Saturday of the month, until the arrival of a permanent parish priest.
A festal meal for all the whole congregation was organised in the crypt of the church, following the Liturgy , at the conclusion of which, Bishop Elisey departed for London.
