The historic signing of the Act of Canonical Communion between the Russian Orthodox Church - Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, took place on the feast of the Holy Ascension (4th / 17th May 2007), at Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Moscow. The signing of the Act by his holiness, Patriarch Alexy of Moscow and All-Russia, and his eminence, Metropolitan Laurus of New York, first primate of the Church Abroad, marked the reconciliation of these two parts of the Russian Orthodox Church - and preceded the concelebration of the Divine Liturgy by the two primates, together with a large assembly of hierarchs, clergy and laity.

You are invited to read a report on the signing of the Act, on the Moscow Patriarchate's web site, with several photographs (text currently only available in Russian). A second photo-report covers the concelebration of the Divine Liturgy.

A report in English, including many photographs, is available on the web site of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (this text is also available in Russian). Several dozen photographs are available at the bottom of this report.

Special note: The first concelebration of the Divine Liturgy by clergy of our diocese and the ROCOR in this country will take place on Saturday, 2nd June 2007, at the Diocesan Cathedral in London, as part of a day that includes a conference on "The Saints of Britain and the Unity of the Church", and a vigil for the patronal feast of the cathedral.
