« On the 7th Sunday after Pentecost, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Liturgy at the London Cathedral »

On August 4, 2019, on the 7th Sunday after Pentecost, the feast day of Saint Mary Magdalene, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral in London.

The Right Reverend Vladyka was assisted by the Abbot of the Akhtyr Holy Trinity Monastery, Archimandrite Simeon (Gagatik) (Sumy Diocese of the UOC MP), Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, Associate Professor of the Orthodox St. Tikhon Humanitarian University and Sretensky Theological Seminary, cleric of the church  of St.Catherine in Vspolye, Archpriest Vadim Leonov (Moscow) and Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.

The service was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Great Britain A.V.  Yakovenko.

A sermon before the Communion was delivered by the professor of the Department of Missiology of the Orthodox St. Tikhon Humanitarian University A.L. Dvorkin (Moscow).

At the end of the Liturgy, the Right Reverend Bishop and fellow clergy served a lithya for the memorable founder of the Diocese of Sourozh, Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom), whose 16th anniversary of his departure is celebrated on this day.

Vladyka Matthew congratulated the participants with partaking of the Holy Mysteries of Christ and addressed those present in the church with words of preaching and spiritual edification, emphasizing the importance of the work of the ever-memorable Vladyka Anthony in the field of building Orthodox life in Great Britain during his administration of the Diocese of Sourozh.
